Devin Brown Murder-Suicide Leaves 3 Dead in Joppatowne

Devin Brown, 34, of Baltimore, shot and killed three members of his family in an apartment in Joppatowne on Saturday before taking his own life, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

The victims were identified as Brown's mother, Sherlyn Ann Pitts, 65, of Baltimore; his aunt, Sheena Yvonne Smothers, 38, of Joppatowne; and her son, a 17-year-old boy who has not been named.

Brown and his mother went to Smothers' apartment to pay her a visit, and at some point during their stay, Brown took out a revolver, shot three members of Smothers' family, and then turned the gun on himself, according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

The deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Trimble Road at 11:18 a.m. for a report of an active shooter. They arrived at the apartment within two minutes and found several people inside who had been shot.

All three adults were pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious injuries, but he died later that day.
